My brother, Petruccio, had been collecting feathers for as long as I could remember. But he was an ill child and often could not leave the house. He had spotted some nearby and so he asked me to retrieve them for him. I asked what he was planning to do with all of them and he smiled and told me that I would know in time.

After he died, every time that I would see a feather, I would collect it and place it into a box in my mother's room. I thought perhaps it would ease her sorrow for having lost so much.

I still do not know what he wanted them for.

[There's a pause, a moment where he breathes in deeply before speaking once more.]

Having a family is like having invisible strings tying you to each other. These are bonds that are never meant to be severed, and when they are broken, it leaves those who have been left behind with pieces of themselves missing.
